My dentist, Dr. Bajaj, and her team, in my opinion, are the best! The service I have received in the 6 years I have been a patient, is excellent. I have a couple of health issues, but Dr. Bajaj and the hygienists work around my physical difficulties seamlessly. They provide a safe, warm and comfortable atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and makes me feel like family.

About Dr. Sushma Bajaj DMD

In 1989, after earning her Bachelors of Science in Winnipeg Manitoba, Dr. Bajaj realized she had an aptitude for the sciences and decided Dentistry was the perfect profession for her so she went on to earn her DMD. After graduation from dentistry school in 1993, she wanted to learn and gain as much experience as she could in her chosen field, so she bought a practice with a classmate in a small city in Manitoba. As an owner, she gained significant experience as a dentist and in all aspects of the business.

Dr. Bajaj then moved to BC in 1999 from Manitoba and started associating at two dental Clinics. The principal dentist of the practice she worked at, had triplets leaving her to work as a solo practitioner. In 2001 she moved to Kingston, Ontario and she worked with Altima until 2003, one of the large multi-clinic groups in Ontario. She moved back to BC in 2003 and she worked and started three clinics for a dentist who had multiple clinics.

Dr. Bajaj gained a plethora of experience in a variety of associate positions in the following years. In 2007, she practiced with Smile Dental Group and found out that the principal she was working for was opening a location closer to her home. In 2011 she bought Smile Dental from the Dentist she was working for.

Who Might Need Dental Implants?

Dental implant procedures are just one of the many services we offer our patients.

If you have a damaged or lost tooth, you have options available to you. You may need to replace just one tooth, or perhaps you need to replace several. If you need dentures, however, that is a different procedure. Either way, your dentist will help you determine the best course of action.

If you find yourself in a situation that resulted in damaged or missing teeth, you may need dental implants. In order to be a good candidate for a dental implant procedure, you must have healthy gums and a strong jawbone so that the implants can be installed properly.

What Are Dental Implants, Exactly?

A dental implant is a tiny metal screw (essentially an artificial tooth root) made of titanium. This surgical fixture is inserted into your jawbone, and a replacement tooth is attached to it. The implant acts as a sort of anchor to hold the new tooth in place.

The dental implant process is a quick and effective solution for patients who are looking to replace their missing or damaged teeth and restore their smile and self-confidence.

What Can I Expect at My Appointment?

Your dentist will do a thorough examination of your mouth and take x-rays of your head, jaw and teeth to be sure that you are a candidate for the procedure.
Once you are qualified to receive dental implants, your dentist will place the dental implant into your jawbone beneath your gum tissue. As the gum tissue heals (which can sometimes take a few months), the implant will bond with the bone and attach to the gum.
Once the gum tissue has healed, your dentist will attach an abutment to the implant. (Abutment is the name given to the post that connects the replacement tooth to the implant.)
The artificial replacement tooth is then attached to the abutment.
If you are replacing several or all of your teeth, a fixed bridge will be anchored to your dental implants.

Dental implants at our clinic typically take two visits to install: one to fit the screw, and one to install the false tooth. Please note that all bone structures and all patients are different. Your procedure may take longer or involve more steps (such as bone augmentation) than the steps above.
