Considering Dental Implants?

At Beaverton Oral Surgeons our doctors do everything they can to give you a beautiful smile and help you keep your natural teeth. However, life can be unpredictable, and at some point, you may find yourself with a damaged or lost tooth. If that happens, you may need dental implants.

For many years, the only options for treating missing teeth were dentures or bridges. But thanks to advances in dental technology, dental implants are now a viable option.

Dental implants are a long-lasting and safe way to replace your damaged or missing teeth. Let’s see if they are the right choice for you.

Dental implant procedures are just one of the many services we offer our patients.

If you have a damaged or lost tooth, you have options available to you. You may need to replace just one tooth, or perhaps you need to replace several. If you need dentures, however, that is a different procedure. Either way, your dentist will help you determine the best course of action.

If you find yourself in a situation that resulted in damaged or missing teeth, you may need dental implants. In order to be a good candidate for a dental implant procedure, you must have healthy gums and a strong jawbone so that the implants can be installed properly.

Contact our office today and talk to one of our knowledgeable team members to see if you are a candidate for implants. We can set up a consultation at which point your dentist will examine your teeth and your overall oral health to determine if this procedure is right for you.

A dental implant is a tiny metal screw (essentially an artificial tooth root) made of titanium. This surgical fixture is inserted into your jawbone, and a replacement tooth is attached to it. The implant acts as a sort of anchor to hold the new tooth in place.

The dental implant process is a quick and effective solution for patients who are looking to replace their missing or damaged teeth and restore their smile and self-confidence.

  • Your dentist will do a thorough examination of your mouth and take x-rays of your head, jaw and teeth to be sure that you are a candidate for the procedure.
  • Once you are qualified to receive dental implants, your dentist will place the dental implant into your jawbone beneath your gum tissue. As the gum tissue heals (which can sometimes take a few months), the implant will bond with the bone and attach to the gum.
  • Once the gum tissue has healed, your dentist will attach an abutment to the implant. (Abutment is the name given to the post that connects the replacement tooth to the implant.)
  • The artificial replacement tooth is then attached to the abutment.
  • If you are replacing several or all of your teeth, a fixed bridge will be anchored to your dental implants.

Dental implants at our clinic typically take two visits to install: one to fit the screw, and one to install the false tooth. Please note that all bone structures and all patients are different. Your procedure may take longer or involve more steps (such as bone augmentation) than the steps above.

Damaged or missing teeth can impact our lives immensely. Dental implants help by restoring your everyday functions such as chewing, eating, and speaking confidently. They can also prevent adjacent teeth from drifting into improper positions.

Here are some additional benefits of dental implants:

  • Durability
  • Low maintenance
  • Look and feel like natural teeth
  • Boost and restore your confidence

If you think dental implants are the right choice for you, or if you have any questions, call or send a request below and talk to one of our Doctors. Nothing is more important to us than the dental health and confident smiles of our patients!
